OK......
Sooooo....
My husband does this in the summer...
In places like this.
In the winter, he does this...
When there is snow.
Well....while he is hanging around the house...
he gets ideas from reading...
but mainly
he reads & reads & reads...
Right now he is recording as he reads
the Bible.
So the following pictures are of his "recording studio"
The only thing is...
our house is not very soundproof.
So...
we are spending alot of time...
reading and "trying" to be quiet.

Is he recording this to listen to later, like in old age when he can't read any more? Or is it for the kids, or what?
Some of each of the questions you asked.
He hasn't really cared for the pronunciations that other people have done.So is trying his "voice" at it.
There is always some project going on to make things OR make something better.
Being the audio man at our church...is always working with "recording stuff".Putting our pastor's sermons online at our church website after every service.
My husband said "you can order prepaid copies...shipping out in late 2011." LOL
(This is all in my words, not his)
Very good!
I've often thought it would be interesting to copy by hand portions of the Bible to leave for one's kids. There's something fresh about reading real handwriting. I guess the same would apply to listening to an audio recording of your own Pops' voice. Plus, it's a more intimate way for the recorder themself to work through the text.
